There are an estimated 10 million new cases yearly, and dementia is also the seventh leading cause of death among older adults. The leading form of dementia is Alzheimer's disease (A.D.), which affects an estimated 6.7 million people over the age of 65 in the United States. According to a news release, the new study found that people who consumed half a tablespoon of olive oil daily had a 28% reduced risk of dying from dementia compared to people who did not use olive oil.
